Additional Question to the Interview

Explain how you approach a child who is not performing well in the
academic field but is excellent is co-curriculum activities such as sports,
music, and athletics?
It is a sensitive question because many parents believe that academic
excellence is the only key to success for their children. Therefore, I added
this question to determine whether some parents would support the
talents of their children, even if they are academically weak.

Summaries
Parent 1

In terms of a child’s behavior, the parent claimed that a child imitates the
action of the parents. The parent also claimed that the parent initiates the
discipline of a child. In the scenario of a 15-year old child sneaking the
beer, the parent would punish him.
Parent 2

The parent feels that the discipline of a child relies on social upbringing. In
the scenario of a 15-year old child sneaking the beer, the parent would
educate the child that consumption of beer her age limit. When the child is
upset, this parent tries to find out the issue bothering the child and
address it. Overall, this parent would support co-curricular activities if the
child is talented in this field.

 

Parent 3

The parent responds by criticizing the child when upset. On the issue of
recess, the parent would approach the teacher and criticize what he has
done to the child. Overall, the parent would tell the child to focus on
academic performance and neglect co-curricular activities.

Parent 1

This parent believes in the instructive parenting style. Mainly, the parent
uses what he or she was talking about by society. His or her upbringing
influences the method of parenting.
Parent 2

This parent uses the attachment parenting style. This parent is trying to
form a strong emotional bond with the child. The parent is sensitive to the
needs of the child and is likely to provide support.
Parent 3

This parent uses authoritative parenting styles. Mainly, the parent focuses
on controlling everything that the child does. A child under this parent is
required to follow the rules and regulations set by the parent.
