descrete math assignment 2

Part I: Suppose you are developing a statistical database in which information about professional football teams and records are stored.

Consider the following 2 sets of data that list football teams and quarterbacks:

D = {Jets, Giants, Cowboys, 49’ers, Patriots, Rams, Chiefs}

Q = {Tom Brady, Joe Namath, Troy Aikman, Joe Montana, Eli Manning}

  1. Using D as the domain and Q as the range, show the relation between the 2 sets, with the correspondences based on which players are (or were) a member of which team(s). (You can use http://www.pro-football-reference.comto find out this information). Show the relation in the following forms:
    • Set of ordered pairs
    • Directional graph
  2. Is the relation a function? Explain.
  3. Now, use set Q as the domain, and set D as the range. Show the relation in the following forms:
    • Set of ordered pairs
    • Directional graph
  4. Is the relation a function? Explain.

Part II:

Mathematical sequences can be used to model real life applications. Suppose you want to construct a movie theater in your town. The number of seats in each row can be modeled by the formula C_n = 16 + 4n, when n refers to the nth row, and you need 50 rows of seats.

(a)   Write the sequence for the number of seats for the first 5 rows

(b)   How many seats will be in the last row?

(c)   What will be the total number of seats in the theater?

case study 11209037 2

You have been hired as a consultant by your town’s emergency management coordinator to help develop emergency action plans. One of the reasons you were selected is your expertise in using the General Behavior Model (GEBMO) to assess risks. Your first task is to assess the hazardous material risks at a local gas station. The station has one 30,000-gallon underground storage tank compartmentalized to hold 10,000 gallons each of the three gasoline grades, and there is one additional 10,000-gallon tank for diesel fuel. The station has four pumps, and each one can deliver all four products. Also on site is a 2,500 sq. ft. concrete block building used for the cashier and retail sales of service station and convenience store items.

The station is located at a busy intersection near the center of town. It is adjacent to several other local businesses that do a brisk business during the day. Across the street from the station is a large housing development with an elementary school. Behind the station is a city park with playgrounds, baseball fields, and a large wooded area.

Use the GEBMO framework to assess the risks related to the fuels in the underground tanks. Consider physical, chemical, and natural hazards that may contribute to the risks.

  1. Discuss how you applied each of the steps in the GEBMO process and what risks you identified.

  2. Provide recommendations for preventing spills or releases.

  3. Discuss response actions required in the event of a spill or release.

Support your discussion with appropriate references and in-text citations. Your submission must be a minimum of two pages and a maximum of four pages in length.

hr help 1

Read the following situation:

The local textile plant has a workforce of 55 full-time hourly workers, 12 part-time workers (less than 15 hours per week), and six managers that are salaried. The company has been struggling for about five years and has just lost its only major account with a sporting clothes company. Contract renegotiations have been intense for the past six months, but they collapsed two days ago. There is barely enough cash to pay workers for their last two weeks of work. In order not to incur additional payroll obligations to the workers, the company has called a meeting of all employees to announce the plant’s closing at the end of the week (in two days). Although the workers were not overly surprised, they were overwhelmed that so many would be seeking employment in their small community within the next few days. Even though the hourly workers are to be terminated at the end of the week (in two days), managers (those that are salaried) will receive their pay for another 60 days as they handle the closing of the plant.

Analyze this situation from the perspective of the company managers and the HR department by addressing the questions below. Before beginning your analysis, read Section 639.9 “When may notice be given less than 60 days in advance” of theWorker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) ActClick here to access the WARN Act.

Answer the following questions in your report:

Do you agree with management’s human resource plan of action for the immediate plant closing? Why or why not? Explain in detail and include the legal implications. What does the WARN Act say that allows the plant to close inside of the 60-day notice period?

What possible alternatives do the managers and HR have in handling this scenario? If no other attractive options exist and they must depart in two days, what kinds of assistance can the plant give the newly unemployed workers? Given the financial restrictions, is outplacement assistance a possibility?

red sheet ap language

I need someone to type out a quick 2-4 Pages for this assignment. I’ll pay $20 if someone can do it in an hour and a half.

Complete the attached assignment for the passage below.

Passage:

I was glad when somebody told me ” you may go and collect Negroo folk-lore.”
In a way it would not be a new experience for me. When pitched headforemost into the world I landed in a crib of negroism. From the earliest rocking of my cradle, I had known about the capers Brer Rabbit is apt to cut and what the Squinch Owl says from the house top. But it was fitting me like a tight chemise. I couldn’t see it for wearing it. It was only when I was off in college, away from my native surroundings, that I could see myself like somebody else and stand off and look at my garment. Then I had to have the spy-glass of Anthropology to look through at that.
Dr. Boas asked me where I wanted to work and I said ” Florida ” and gave , as my big reason, that ” Florida is a place that draws people – white people from all over the world, and Negroos from every southern state surely and some from the North and West.” So I knew that it was possible for me to get cross section of the Negroo South in the one state. And then I realized that I was new myself, so it looked sensible for me to choose familiar ground.
First place I aimed to stop to collect material was Eatonville, Florida.
And now, I’m going to tell you why I decided to go to my native village first. I didn’t go back there so that the home folks could make admiration over me because I had been up North to college and come back with a diploma and a Chevrolet. I knew they were not going to pay either of these items too much mind. I was just Lucy Hurston’s daughter, Zora and even if I had – to use one of our down-home expressions – had a Kaiser baby , and that’s something that hasn’t been done in this country yet, I’d still be just Zora to the neighbors. If I had exalted myself to impress the town, somebody would have sent me word in a match-box that I had been up North there and had rubbed the hair off of my head against some college wall, and then come back there with a lot of form and fashion and outside show to the world. But they’d stand flat-footed and tell me that they didn’t have me, neither my sham-polish, to study ’bout. And that would have been that.
I hurried back to Eatonville because I knew that the town was full of material and that I could get it without hurt , harm , or danger. As early as I could remember it was the habit of men folks particularly to gather on the store porch of evenings and swap stories. Even the women folks would stop and break a breath with them at times. As a child when I was sent down to Joe Clarke’s store, I’d drag out my leaving as long as possible in order to hear more.
Folk-lore is not as easy to collect as it sounds. The best source is where there are the least outside influences and these people, being usually under-privileged, are the shyest. They are most reluctant at times to reveal that which the soul lives by.

advantages and potential drawbacks integrative therapy

With the majority of practicing psychologists indicating that they practice integrative therapy, it might be easy to assume that integrative therapy is better than practicing a single therapy. What do you think? What are the advantages and potential drawbacks of integrating divergent therapeutic interventions into your practice rather than adhering to one particular school of thought and practice?

To prepare for this Discussion:

Review Dr. Norcross’ course media presentation, “Integrative Therapy.” Focus on his discussion related to the benefits and challenges of integrative therapy.

Review the journal article, “Some Limits to the Integration of Psychoanalytic and Behavior Therapy.” Pay particular attention to the potential difficulties in merging differing therapeutic perspectives.

Consider the advantages and potential challenges of using integrative therapies.

With these thoughts in mind:

Write an analysis of the advantages and potential drawbacks of integrative therapies. Provide specific examples. Briefly describe how you would handle the potential drawbacks you mention.
