Prepare a research paper that addresses a specific economic or financial problem experienced in an institution of higher learning. The problem can come from current headlines and research, or from a familiar institution in conjunction with research. Clearly identify the problem, not the symptoms that stem from the problem. Work with you instructor if you are unsure whether your choice is a true problem, or a symptom of a true problem. Then, integrate course readings and citations from the scholarly and professional literature relating to that issue, the context in which it is being discussed, its importance in the context of the institution, and its implications for the future of the institution in particular and higher education in general. Be certain to include relevant, peer-reviewed publications in journal articles from within the most recent 5 years as a theoretical background to the issue you are discussing.

A suggested outline for the paper is provided below.

  • Suggested Outline
  • Introduction/Background Information
  • Problem Statement
  • Literature Review (five to seven sources)
  • Conclusions
  • Recommendations and solutions for the problem
  • References
  • Appendices (if relevant)

Length: 12 pages, not including title or reference pages

References: Include a minimum of 10 scholarly resources.

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.
