Geisel Library

Description of Geisel Library

Picture 1 and picture 2 represent the Geisel Library. Mainly, Geisel Library is my favorite
landscape. I it quite difficult to select the most favorite landscape especially for a person who
have visited many landscapes. Geisel Library is the central library structure of the University of
California San Diego Library. The landscape was constructed in 1970 and renamed in 1995 to
honor Theodor Seuss Geisel and Audrey. They both contributed massively towards
establishment of the library and improving literacy. The landscape has several floors, but what I
find attractive are floors four through eight. These floors host most of collections in the library
and also house as a study space. Besides, floors one and two are used staff work and service
desks areas.

Personal Importance and Meaning of Geisel Library

Whenever I visit Geisel Library, I feel empowered with what I see. The exterior
background of the landscape tells it all. Many trees reflects the freshness required for a learning
environment. Thus, Geisel Library creates a meaning for the purpose of education and success
achieved by those who embrace education. It also reminds me about my undergraduate education. For
four years, I used Geisel Library for studying my course. Overall, it is of great importance because
it houses more than 7 million volumes to support research and other educational objectives of the
university.

Picture 1: Geisel Library

Picture 1 below forms the alien of my landscape. It appears befitting of a backdrop from
a fallacy. However, the view from picture 1 presents hovering glassy enclosures and strong
concrete piers that make Geisel Library a beautiful landscape.

Picture 2: Geisel Library

Picture 2 below is clearer and provides a smooth view of my landscape. The trees
demonstrate the freshness of the environment from a horizon. The appearance symbolizes the
tension between the exterior and interior appearances the gives the landscape an otherworldly
appearance.
