Interprofessional collaboration is a critical aspect of a nurse’s work. Through interprofessional collaboration, practitioners and patients share information and consider each other’s perspectives to better understand and address the many factors that contribute to health and well-being (Sullivan et al., 2015). Essentially, by collaborating, health care practitioners and patients can have better health outcomes. Nurses, who are often at the frontlines of interacting with various groups and records, are full partners in this approach to health care. Reflection is a key part of building interprofessional competence, as it allows you to look critically at experiences and actions through specific lenses. From the standpoint of interprofessional collaboration, reflection can help you consider potential reasons for and causes of people′s actions and behaviors (Saunders et al., 2016). It also can provide opportunities to examine the roles team members adopted in a given situation as well as how the team could have worked more effectively. Professional Context This assessment will help you to become a reflective practitioner. By considering your own successes and shortcomings in interprofessional collaboration, you will increase awareness of your problem-solving abilities. You will create a video of your reflections, including a discussion of best practices of interprofessional collaboration and leadership strategies, cited in the literature. Scenario As part of an initiative to build effective collaboration at your Vila Health site, where you are a nurse, you have been asked to reflect on a project or experience in which you collaborated interprofessionally and examine what happened during the collaboration, identifying positive aspects and areas for improvement. You have also been asked to review a series of events that took place at another Vila Health location and research interprofessional collaboration best practices and use the lessons learned from your experiences to make recommendations for improving interprofessional collaboration among their team. healthcare providers. Mainly, collaboration among healthcare providers directly affects patient
outcomes. Addressing different aspects of interdisciplinary collaboration can enhance a better
understanding of the Patient’s needs. It can be used to combat problems in healthcare by
reducing health care errors such as misdiagnosis. In this paper, the chief purpose is to explore
several competencies on the concept of interdisciplinary collaboration experience.
Strategies for Managing Human and Financial Resources to Promote Organizational

Health

Several approaches can be used to promote organizational health via the management of
human and financial resources. The first strategy is to make good use of human resources. In
healthcare, human resources include all medical practitioners who participate in the provision of
quality health care to address the Patient’s needs. A report released by Forbes in 2018 indicates
that human resources offer assistance to the organization by utilizing financial resources
effectively (MacLeod, 2018). Therefore, human resources such as doctors and nurses can be used
to fuel the performance of financial resources such as purchasing of health care machines and
equipment.
Another strategy is to focus on growth and education. Mainly, the approach uses the
concept of organizational leadership. Through human resource organization leadership, workers
can work effectively with different individuals and groups. For example, in health care set up,
nurses and doctors can focus on growth and education to allow them to work together effectively
(MacLeod, 2018). The approach can be used to promote organizational health because human
resources can understand strengths, skills, and abilities to address problems. Besides, workers can understand the weakness of other professionals in their teams. Another strategy is to apply
technology to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization. Human resources can
l earn how to utilize new technology in their work. Workers can also direct financial resources to
technology that can generate maximum outcomes for the organization.
How Poor Collaboration Can Result In Inefficient Management of Human and Financial

Resources

The poor collaboration will make hardworking employees leave their jobs resulting in
high employee turnover as a result of inefficient management of financial and human resources.
Mainly, poor collaboration will prepare workers to feel demotivated because their opinions and
ideas do not matter. According to the Marketplace Approved Index surveyed in the United
Kingdom in 2015, at least 1,374 employees left their jobs as a result of poor collaboration
(Sullivan et al., 2015). Poor collaboration results in ineffective management of resources because
managers neglect the health of employees resulting in reduced employee health.
The poor collaboration focuses more on organization profits and neglects the health care
of workers. According to a study on Occupational and Environmental Medicine of 2015, more
than 3,249 men were at risk of developing heart diseases due to ineffective management that
arise from poor collaboration (Sullivan et al., 2015). Besides, poor collaboration limits the
control to invest the available financial resources. In the long-run, productivity decreases, the
reputation of the organization is damaged, and workers are less motivated to embrace
interdisciplinary collaboration.

 

How Interdisciplinary Collaboration Can Be Used To Achieve Desired Patient and Systems

Outcomes

Interdisciplinary collaboration reduces medical errors, thereby achieving desired patient
and system outcomes. It is also relevant in improving the quality of healthcare by allowing
patients and health care providers to accommodate each other in meeting the requirements of a
diverse population. Besides, interdisciplinary can be used to empower team members by
considering opinions and ideas set by team members and by closing communication gaps
(Saunders et al., 2016). It can also be used to enable comprehensive patient care and minimizing
readmission rates. For a team to work together effectively, team mentality is essential to ensure
health care providers are objective-oriented. The best strategy to use is the interdisciplinary
collaboration that allows team members to share their skills, strengths, and abilities. Their
collaboration results in the promotion of patient-centered care that is achieved by educating
nurses, doctors, and other health care providers who work together as a team.
Reflect On an Interdisciplinary Collaboration Experience Noting Ways in Which It Was

Successful and Unsuccessful In Achieving Desired Outcomes
I have also experienced interdisciplinary collaboration in my life. Mainly, it is a two-
sided concept that can successfully and unsuccessfully affect the process of achieving desired
outcomes. In terms of success, interdisciplinary collaboration allows professionals to offer
proper care and to improve patient outcomes. In my experience, I noted that nurses need to
collaborate effectively with health care providers from other disciplines to achieve desired
results. The success of interdisciplinary collaboration is achieved by ensuring that both team
leaders and members are working together. I noted that global organizations such as the
American Dental Education Organization, Association of Schools of Public Health, and American Association of Colleges of Nursing play a significant role in the success of
interdisciplinary collaboration (Saunders et al., 2016). The progress can be summarized through
four competencies, namely interdisciplinary teamwork, multidisciplinary communication, roles
and responsibilities of collaborative practice, and values and ethics for interdisciplinary practice.
In some cases, interdisciplinary collaboration is unsuccessful due to cultural differences in health
care. I noted that different culture is rigid in cultural beliefs that affect desired outcomes.

Goals and Work Together More Effectively

At least three interdisciplinary collaboration strategies can be used. The first strategy is
patient-centered care. An overview of the Nuffield Trust of 2018 claimed that this strategy acts
as an “organizing principle of integrated care” (MacLeod, 2018). Thus, a team can use this
strategy to enhance access to healthcare providers in a multidisciplinary working environment.
The next approach is physical integration that determines the success of health care system
integration. Thus, a team can understand roles and responsibilities by designing and
implementing the workability of an integrated health care system. The last strategy is to use a
shared information technology system that can allow all team members to access patient data.
The approach can be used to generate a single record that enables seamless communication to
improve the performance of a team in a health care system.
How Change Management Theories and Leadership Strategies Can Enable
Interdisciplinary Teams to Achieve Specific Organizational Goals
Management theories and leadership strategies can be used to propel the use of an
interdisciplinary approach to mitigate risk-averse thinking. The method can be used to assess the
risks and benefits of leadership for the provision of quality care for the Patient. Change in management theories also allows interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes,
satisfaction and healthcare processes (MacLeod, 2018). Leadership strategies are used to allocate
roles and responsibilities, thereby avoiding duplication of assessments. Overall, change in
management theories can create better opportunities where interdisciplinary care planning is
implemented to care for patients, their families, and achieving organizational goals.
Best-Practice Leadership Strategies from the Literature, Which Would Improve an

Interdisciplinary Team’s Ability to Achieve Its Goals

Several leadership strategies can be used to improve the ability of the interdisciplinary
team to achieve their goals. The use of positive leadership promotes the working environment by
fostering the trust of valued team members. Besides, a positive leadership strategy ensures there
are reliable infrastructure, resources, and training to promote personalities, competencies, and
skills among team members (MacLeod, 2018). The last leadership strategy is the use of a
transformational leadership approach that creates a better working environment for healthcare
providers to enhance the safety of patients via a fundamental change in management and
leadership strategies.
