Throughout its digital marketing strategy, the business focuses on setting itself apart from other less humane companies that offer eyewear at very high prices, which many people cannot afford. The company is proof that innovation is a critical factor in the success of every digital brand strategy. Warby Parker also utilizes vertical integration, storefronts, technology, and brand management to ensure successful operation in the production, marketing, sales, and distribution of its products (Sam, 2015). Home Try-Own Strategy

Online shopping has become trendy in the 21st century due to the advancement in technology in terms of software and hardware. Online shopping involves purchasing goods or services from vendors or companies selling their products through the internet using a web browser, accessible by different individuals within a specific region or throughout the world. It may be easy, quick, convenient, and efficient to buy different items online (Chaffey, 2019). Nonetheless, many customers are still reluctant to buy items, especially those they need for personal use, over the internet, either from companies or individual sellers. Customers’ reluctance to buy items online is mostly caused by their concern for delivery times, lack of awareness of the benefits of purchasing products online, fraud and security fears, and the inability to test the items before purchasing items online (Marais, 2015). These issues have highly influenced individuals not to purchase items over the internet, including eyewear. This poses a significant challenge for Warby Parker, as we focus on selling glasses and other eyewear online. Current and potential customers for Wardy Parker would be reluctant to buy the product online because they cannot test the efficiency, effectiveness, performance, and even how the eyewear would look on them. The executives, especially co-CEO of Warby Parker, David Gilboa, find it imperative to develop and implement a new strategy to reduce individuals’ reluctance to shop online and purchase eyewear from the company’s website.

The strategy we have in mind is the try-on approach that can reduce Warby’s business model’s major perceived risks, which involves selling their products online. The try-on approach involves trying on new products to see if they fit or how they look. More specifically, the company would implement a home try-on approach to enable users to try different products before buying any of them. After the company was developed in 2010, it successfully met its first year’s sales goals within the first three weeks after launching. Since then, the company has distributed over a million glasses, with its sales reaching over $100 million annually (Sam, 2015). Regardless of this growth and development, the company still has a lot of potential and needs to develop exponentially to attract more customers, increase its market, and increase the profits. 

Specific Objectives 

The main objectives for implementing the new home try-on strategy is to revolutionalize our company and the entire optical industry. Here, we also aim to increase customer satisfaction and change their perception about online shopping. Many individuals want to purchase quality and affordable items that are mostly sold online. Still, they cannot see them or evaluate their quality before buying, which increases their doubt on the products’ quality and performance. Thus, they are reluctant to buy the items. 

Deliverables Overview

The company will provide several frames selected by customers to try them at home for several days to see how they fit or look on them. More specifically, the current and potential customers will pick several optical frames based on their condition. The company will send the selected items to the customers to try them for free. Suppose an individual is struggling to narrow their choices down. In that case, they can try different items virtually. Therefore, the company will develop a software application that would enable individuals to try on virtual frames through augmented reality. This software will help to produce computer-generated images, specific frames, into real-world images, a customer’s face. The software will recommend frames based on the customer’s facial structure, and from those recommendations, they can choose the glasses that they can try at home for some time.

Timeline 

The Home Try-On strategy will be implemented and tested for two months from December 1, 2020 to January 30, 2021. Before and within the two-months months, we will advertise our new approach to get both current and new customers to visit the company’s website. The duration to which the chosen frames will be delivered will differ depending on a customer’s location and the availability of the glasses. After the trial period, we will utilize the strategy as a permanent approach towards growth.

Recommendations and Conclusions

At Warby Parker, we provide a winning value proposition by selling high-quality, fashionable glasses at an affordable price. More so, the company commits to doing good and making the world a better place by enabling customers to see the world more efficiently. The fact that we produce our frames in-house in our own optical laboratory instead of paying external manufacturers will significantly support implementing the new Home-try approach. As we implement this approach, I strongly recommend that we allow customers to choose five optical frames based on their needs. Then, we will send them for free to their specific homes or office or schools. The delivery location will be the customer’s choice, increasing efficiency since individuals are in different places throughout the day. After the frames are delivered, I recommend giving five days for customers to try them. This will help individuals to determine and identify what works best for them. After testing the products, customers can then order the product online, giving precise details about their prescription and the specifications of the product they have chosen. We will then deliver the ordered items as we take back the samples. This strategy will greatly change individuals’ views and perceptions of online shopping. 

A Home Try-On approach will help individuals see that the company cares about its customers’ views and can deliver as ordered by the clients. It will promote and enhance customers’ satisfaction towards Warby Parker’s products and our overall services. Fundamentally, I recommend this strategy to the co-CEO’s, investors, business partners, and employees at Warby Parker as it would help to reduce customers’ perceived risks on online shopping and their reluctance to purchase through the company’s website, improving customers’ satisfaction, enhancing company operations, increasing profits, and promoting overall company development.

Solutions

Management solutions entail having a precise analysis of investments and assessments of hazards and risks involved. Critical Review of a Social Problem in a Film

Black and Blue is a 2019 American thriller film directed by Deon Taylor and written by Peter A Dowling. Unlike other thriller films associated with media violence in pursuit of revenge, Black and Blue has been classified by many as a civic education movie that teaches people the active role that they can play in making society a better place to live (Roeper, 2019). The film’s plot follows the life of Alicia West, who is a rookie police officer in her hometown in New Orleans. Before she joined the police, West was a military officer who has been on two trips to Afghanistan. The plot’s complication arises when West witnesses the killing of an unarmed black man by three officers. Being a rookie, she wasn’t supposed to be at the scene but being a police officer; she had to respond when she had gunshots (Taylor, 2019). Fortunately, she had her body camera on when the incident happened, and the camera recorded it all. The three police officers notice and want to recover the camera under any circumstances, including killing her. They try shooting her, but her bulletproof vest saves West. She then turns into a police officer on the run from other police officers and later from her fellow black men. Even though the bad relationship between the police and the community dominates in the movie, racial discrimination is the source of many of the movie’s problems.

Racial discrimination is the biggest social ill that the film wishes to expose. In the opening scene, the audience is introduced to West, a young African American woman who has retired from active duty in the military and joined the police in her hometown in New Orleans. One morning before heading for work, West decides to take a morning jog around town (Roeper, 2019). As she jogs, she is stopped by two police officers who harass her and claim that she is a suspect that has been on the police radar for some time. They almost put her in handcuffs before they could let her even tell them her name when she produces her identification, and one police officer stands shocked as he shouts, “she is blue” (Taylor, 2019). The officer makes this statement in shock after realizing that the person they have been harassing is their fellow police officer. As they hand back her identification, they apologize to her for their treatment of her. However, West does not mind much as she is used to that kind of treatment from white police officers, and she carries on with her morning jog. The title of the movie, “Black and Blue,” introduces the audience to the film’s topic. In other words, the title wishes to prepare the audience for the experiences of being a black woman and a police officer in a racialized society (Keval, 2019). 

Conflict theory looks at how conflicts develop and are resolved in society. In this line, conflict theory blames the conflict on the unequal distribution of resources and power in society (Crossman, 2019). Though there is no definite definition of what resources entail, some resources that could spark conflicts include class, status, and power. Various factors can bring social class, but in the film, white supremacy is the main way that racists police officers attain their class. White supremacy is one of the main factors that are the cause of the problem. White supremacy believes that a person is superior to people of color due to his/her race. This way, white people treat other races as inferior races in the community and thus prejudice and discriminate against the minority groups (Norris et al., 2019). White supremacy is a result of racial indoctrination whereby white supremacy principles are passed down through generations. People who belong to the superior race are taught to look down upon the races considered minority groups. Through racial indoctrination, people are taught about stereotyped behaviors and traits about the other races. These stereotypes control how these people perceive and treat people from another stereotyped race (Roeper, 2019). For example, the harassment that West went through in the police’s hands was based on the stereotype that many African Americans are criminals who are involved in gang-related activities. In the police force, a police officer is driving a racial mentality that they want to pass to West (Keval, 2019). They believe in the unequal treatment of African Americans based on their race and not on their behaviors as citizens of the United States of America. 

Racial discrimination is known to set a conflict between people from different races. Race has in the past been used to enslave, kill, and discriminate against people by denying them essential rights such as the right to education, voting, and freedom of speech (Roeper, 2019). Even though those periods are gone, the film indicates the new results of racial discrimination. Police brutality is one of the results of racial discrimination that the movie intends to pass to the audience. In the first instance, the public sees the police interact with a black woman; they harass her so badly and even threaten to arrest her. Still, she is saved by the fact that she is a police officer and could prove it. Police brutality is also seen when three white police officers kill a young unarmed black man after losing the money they wanted (Taylor, 2019).  Racial discrimination also leads to divisions within the police force, separating the section that believes in racial discrimination and the other that believes in upholding and applying the law equally among all races. This division causes problems in the coordination and success of the police in maintaining law and order. Public distrust in the police is also another consequence of racial discrimination. The role of the police in society is to maintain law and order in society. As they play this crucial role, they need to have the public as their friends to give them support and information that they need to effectively do their role. However, when the police are deemed to treat members of a certain community in a dehumanizing way, members of that community take the police to be their enemies(Norris et al., 2019). The community, therefore, changes its way of relating to the police, and coordinating with the police is seen as a betrayal against the community. In this line, West enters a store after she escapes death from her partners. The store owner is her fellow black man, who rushes to help but stops suddenly when he realizes that she is in police uniform. A similar incident happens when West asks a young boy about his uncle, and he responds by saying that he does not talk to police officers. The public distrust among the public is so high that it has been passed down to the children.

On the one hand, a group of white police officers believes that they are more superiors than African American citizens. They think that racial superiority gives them the power to harass and even kill African Americans. On the other hand, the African American community thinks that the whole police department is racists. As a result, they do not want to associate with any police officer, including black police officers (Norris et al., 2019). Every African American, including children, thinks that they are targets of a racist police force; therefore, keep avoiding every police officer in their neighborhood. West, however, holds a contrary view to those of the other police officers and her community. As they are on patrol, West and her partner converse about working in the police department when her partner enquires about her intentions of joining the police, and she responds by saying, “I want to help” (Taylor, 2019). The help that West is referring to is the fight against racial discrimination. As a former soldier who has been on two trips to Afghanistan and her growth in the poor neighborhoods of New Orleans has taught her that there is no Them or Us. All people are equal. The change she wishes to show the people that society would be better if all people were treated like human beings without any exception, and the police department is supposed to be on the front line if this goal is to succeed. 

The movie posits that everyone has a civic duty to play in society. The citizens have a responsibility to behave responsibly, which makes the work of the police easy and effective. On the other hand, the police have a responsibility to reciprocate the respect that the citizens show by serving them diligently. This is one solution that the movie’s whole plot seeks to pass to the audience.  it is a “love us we love you” kind of solution (Norris et al., 2019). Laws are there to guide and regulate the actions of people. Without them, societies would be chaotic as people try to satisfy their needs. Laws apply equally among all people, and no people should be treated specially due to any factor. In this line, racial discrimination should not be a factor that determines who police suspect, arrest, or kill as all human beings are equal. Police are also required to obey the law at all times as they are the law enforcers and not the lawbreakers. The movie’s setting takes place after the Obama requirement that all police officers should have body cams in response to Fergusson (Roeper, 2019). If this standard requirement was enforced, the police would not discriminate against people as they did in the film. The main solutions to racism are driven by West, who is the protagonist in the film. The plot of the film also leads to similar preventive and responsive measures. 

Corruption is one of the problems that are linked to racial discrimination. When African Americans are arrested illegally, they have to bribe themselves out, leading to massive corruption.  For example, the murder that leads to the film’s main conflict happens as the police try to get money from a black man who is a drug dealer. When the black man says that he does not have the money they are asking for, one responds by shooting him.  After West escapes, the police team up with a known drug dealer to search for her. These police officers have been transacting illegal deals with the drug dealer, and now they fear that their secret will be exposed. 

Racism is a social construction that has been used in society to discriminate against people of various races. In the past, racism has always been in existence but applied in various ways. The days of slavery are gone, but racism still sticks in society. Police brutality has been indicted in the film as one of the ways that have been used to discriminate against people of color. The movie was produced and released in 2019 was like a foreshadowing of events that were to take place in 2020 when police officers were accused of killing an unarmed black man. This event sparked nationwide protests, which caught global attention and calls for change. The film not only puts the responsibility of bringing equality in society to the police or the government. It puts a civic duty on all people as everyone can do something small to change the situation and make society better than he/she found it.

Service Failure and Recovery in the Hospitality and Tourism Sector

Service managers in the hospitality and tourism industry often get complaints from clients or customers regarding the services they receive, which could be either positive or negative. Service failure defines service performance that fails to meet the expectations and needs of a customer. Service failure or a company’s inability to meet client expectations leads to customer dissatisfaction and defection (Yi-Chen and Hassett, 2018). Examples of failed service experiences include low-quality services, employees’ rude behaviors, and late deliveries. This results in customers not receiving what they are promised when checking into a hotel, restaurant, or travel agency. According to Mattila and Ro (2008), failed delivery systems lead to the largest number of service failure cases. In case of a service failure, do customers proactively communicate with the service managers about them, and if so, what steps do the managers take to mend these problems and increase customer satisfaction. This report will research, analyze, and discuss whether customers proactively communicate about service failures to service managers and the steps undertaken for service recovery. It will include service failure and recovery, provide a real-life service failure experience, and recommend how the business could have handled the situation.

Service Failure

When visiting a hotel, lodging, or a bed-and-breakfast, customers expect to receive the best service or as promised by a specific establishment. Failure to meet customers’ expectations leads to complaints regarding the business. In some cases, if the service failure is high, customers proactively communicate with the service managers regarding the establishment’s inability to keep its promise or even meet the basic services (Yi-Chen and Hassett, 2018). Customers make lengthy reports regarding the quality of the services that had been promised versus what they received, reflecting their dissatisfaction (Snow (2010). Here, they make these complaints to receive compensation or get better services. Some customers do not bother to communicate with service managers regarding the failure of a hotel or an agency to provide quality services (Snow, 2010). Many businesses in the hospitality and tourism industry can provide better services. Therefore, some individuals do not waste their time complaining but check out from that establishment or agency and go to another business. According to Snow (2010), poor performance in a business also reflects leaders’ failure to manage the operations more effectively. With this in mind, businesses and managers should aim to provide better services even when they do not receive complaints since not all individuals want to waste their time going to court or seeking compensation.

Service Recovery

Customers most often react proactively to service failures (Shin et al., 201). Therefore, service managers or an entire business must take the necessary actions to mend their mistakes upon receiving a complaint. Service failure is common in the hospitality business; well, human error, too. However, recovering from such failures is challenging, and not many managers can handle the situation efficiently. 

Nevertheless, for every service failure, the service manager can take the necessary steps for service recovery. First, the service manager and other involved individuals should apologize and ask for the customers’ forgiveness (Shrestha, 2017). Here, after failing to provide the expected services, the manager can listen to the client attentively about what happened. After this, they apologize sincerely and genuinely. They can also provide the client with a full explanation of what led to the service failure. Secondly, the service manager should go over the complaint with the client (Shrestha, 2017). It is crucial always to analyze a complaint and find it is missing any information. This helps to understand and identify who caused the failure because, in some cases, the customers may be in the wrong and give false complaints. Here, the manager can also locate customers’ expectations and desires after experiencing the service failure.

The manager should then try to fix the problem and follow up with the results. The third step of service recovery involves trying to fix the failure with the most appropriate alternative and following up with the client (Shrestha, 2017). Here, the manager tries to determine if the establishment can improve or enhance the hotel’s quality of services or compensate for a client. If it is compensation, the business can refund or return the money for the services not met. Finally, the service manager should document and record the problem in detail (Shrestha, 2017). This step involves recording the complaints and problems experienced and staff members’ training for similar problems that may occur in the future. In other words, the experiences from the service failure inform the decision made regarding certain services and the training given to employees in a specific sector or department. According to Shrestha (2017), the most effective action for preventing service failure from recurring is documenting the problem experienced for thorough analysis and discussion during company meetings.

Service failure is common in hospitality businesses such as hotels, lodges, and hostels. Some of the common examples of service failures are as described in the table below. It also shows how establishment and managers can effectively approach and solve service failure.

As illustrated in the table, service failure involves providing low-quality services, rude language and attitude towards customers, and late deliveries. Nonetheless, service can be solved by apologizing to involved clients, analyzing the complaint, fixing the problem, and documenting the procedure for future reference.

Marriot’s Service Failure

Mark Schaefer was a frequent customer of Marriott, but not so much nowadays. The reason being, Schaefer experienced one of the worst service failures that one could ever imagine. According to Schaefer, he had a horrible experience (Schaefer, 2018). In a report, he gives a clear overview of the unforgettable yet teachable experience. Schaefer was driving to Atlanta through a storm and had been driving for 12 hours while the night crept in. He was expecting a massive package for pre-reading for a meeting the next morning with a customer that was to be sent to Marriott hotel. But halfway to the hotel, he realized that the package had been delivered to the wrong Marriott while his reservation was 10 miles away in another Marriott hotel.

Schaefer decided to change or transfer his reservation to the hotel where his package was. He called the hotel to verify that the package was there and it was and also an extra available room. He asked to switch his reservation to that property, and the lady said yes and then put him on hold (Schaefer, 2018). After five minutes, she asked for his reservation number and told him to hold again. Schaefer was greatly disappointed when another person came on the line and asked if he wanted to make a reservation. At this point, Schaefer was confused and frustrated as the responder said that the one he had talked to had gone home for the night. He claimed that what Schaefer was requesting was beyond the services he could provide. Thus he could not help him. Schaefer called the central Marriott service, but they kept him on hold with a new person taking his call and asking if he wanted to make a reservation. One hour had already passed, and he decided to go to the hotel to pick up his package and then go back to his hotel (Schaefer, 2018). He also tweeted Marriott for help, but there was no response. The situation became worse when he reached the hotel and found no package, which they had confirmed was there less than two hours ago. There was no way for him to prepare for the meeting. He tweeted the hotel two more times consecutively, but there was no response, and when they responded a few days later, they became defensive. He also sent direct messages and emails to the customer service department, but there were no plausible replies. 

Failed Recovery Process

In consideration of the above experience, Marriott hotel has the worst service recovery procedures. It would be correct to say that they do not have any. There are a couple of things that the entity and its employees did wrong in response to service failure. Instead of emphasizing the customers’ needs, it considered those of the franchise owner. Customer satisfaction is the key element in the growth of a hospitality business, and failure to consider customers’ needs leads to low customer satisfaction. Secondly, it did not respond to Schaefer’s calls, direct messages, tweets, and emails concerning their service failure. This shows their negligence towards good business practices in customer service management and shows that they do not care about the customers’ needs or their perception about the establishment. Schaefer’s experience shows that the employees’ did not have adequate experience or skills to solve service failures. Employees, especially those at the reception and customer service department, come into contact with customers throughout the day through phone calls or physically. Their inability to solvice failures efficiently could lead to chaos within the business, ruin the company’s reputation, and affect customer satisfaction. The company was also not transparent on why it could not solve the problem or even respond to calls and tweets. They claimed that the entity had an overload of calls, but a later tweet showed a system outage. Lastly, the business did not follow up on Schaefer’s pleas for help through tweets, calls, messages, and emails. They did not check whether he got his problem solved or even if he got his package. Marriott is a big business, a major brand in the hospitality industry, but it is so broken. Though some of the employees apologized for the delays, they did not solve the problem.

Recommendations

Service failure is unavoidable due to system failures or inadequate resources at specific times. However, this does not mean that hotels and other hospitality industry establishments cannot do their level best to ensure that they meet customers’ needs. In Marriott’s case, the business should have tried to deliver the package to the original destination or help him change his reservation to the hotel where his package was. More specifically, I would recommend the business apply various steps and strategies to solve Schaefer’s problem. First, the hotel could have acknowledged the problem they had caused Schaefer by delivering the package to the wrong hotel and find ways to send it to the original destination. Here, it could have also found ways to help the customer pick or stay at the property where the package had been delivered. Secondly, the employees could have shown empathy, be patient, and solve the customer’s problem efficiently and timely. Thirdly, the business could have trained and driven employees on how to solve service failure issues immediately. This is essential as it reduces prolonged public exchange, mainly through online platforms such as Twitter, which could also influence other customers’ perceptions about the business. They should have coordinated well, communicated about Schaefer’s issue, and come up with solutions for the problem. Forth, they could have apologized and then found ways to minimize the consequences of their failed systems and unreliable delivery services and develop better ways to respond to customers and solve the issue at hand. Lastly, Marriott employees could have followed up with Schaefer’s case to apologize and assess what the company could do to make the customer feel better and appreciated. Follow-ups usually help to change customers’ perceptions about a specific business.

Conclusion

Service failure defines a business’s inability to meet customer expectations. Rude behaviors and inadequate delivery services may be examples of service failure in the hospitality and tourism industry. Depending on the situation, customers may or may not proactively communicate or report service failure to the service manager. Nonetheless, those who do most likely demand compensation or better services. A service manager can handle the recovery process by first apologizing to clients, analyzing the complaint, fixing the issue, and documenting the entire experience. Empathy and quick thinking may also be efficient solutions for handling failures and connecting with customers. However, taking the above steps would be most appropriate for managing service failure, especially in large businesses. This research will help businesses identify service failures experienced in their entity and know how to solve them. They could help to solve service failures in different settings, including that involving Schaefer and Marriott Hotel.

The United States nation over a generation, has been defended by soldiers who, daily,
dedicate their lives on very dangerous missions. These soldiers are bound by crucial values that
enable them to go for a mission and complete the mission according to their capacity. Moreover,
they protect the Nation so that their family, friends, and loved ones could enjoy their lives and
have happy moments together. This paper will focus on the army's main core values, which
include respect, loyalty, integrity, duty, personal courage, honor, and selfless service.

Loyalty
Complicated orders surround the life of a soldier. They go to battle amidst feeble hopes
of returning to their family and loved ones. The fundamental strategy that tutors use during
training is to teach the young soldiers the importance of loyalty in battle. There are several
operations that a soldier may be tempted to forsake the fundamental values that hold the army
firm and to ensure that an operation is done successfully. Besides, according to (Kusch 2011),
loyalty has always been present in all warrior societies. Moreover, Kusch continues to clarify
that loyalty among the soldiers increases the fighting effectiveness and ensure cohesion amidst
the chaotic environment. When it comes to the army leaders, they sacrifice a lot of their time to
ensure that his/her soldiers get the right orders and protect the soldiers during an operation.

Duty
Every individual, whether employed or not, must always be responsible for something.
Duty in the army eco-system entails obedience and discipline despite difficulty or danger. The
life of a soldier is entangled with a dangerous environment throughout. They handle sensitive
equipment that can lead to the loss of countless lives of civilians or even within the army bases
when in the wrong hands or misused. All soldiers have to be responsible for their actions and always maintain a high level of discipline and obedience to ensure that an operation, however rooted in their duty, he claims that no enemy defensive line can be impossible to breach.
Moreover, soldiers are always motivated by their responsibility to keep their country and loved
ones safe, to wake up another day to enjoy their lives with family and friends.

Respect
Above all the core values of the army, respect supersedes them all. There will never be a
cohesive flow of information if the soldiers are disrespectful. Moreover, there can never be peace
in the army bases if the soldiers are disrespectful. The soldiers are meant to take orders and work
on the orders to the best of their abilities. Imagine being in an operation where the soldier faces
death. It is out of respect and loyalty to his/her country that will make the soldiers not cooperate
with the enemy. According to (Brænder and Holsting, 2020), the key reason for the fall of the
Soviet invasion of Afghanistan invasion in the 1980s was the disrespect for local population. The
value of respect is clearly stated in General order Number 1. The army also needs to show
respect to the culture. For instance, in Afghanistan, the USA army was never to enter the mosque
unless under imminent threat and are reminded to treat the village elders with deference (Kusch,
2011).

Selfless Service
According to (Kusch 2011), selfless service on many occasions is generally confused by
soldiers as a sacrifice. Kusch continues to define selfless service to entail more than just
sacrifice. For instance, selfless service are those activities that a soldier might do to ensure the
betterment of the Nation. Kusch claims that even an act of providing candy to a young girl or
fixing a car knowing that their friends will ride it the next day or the act of carrying the extra weight of defensive gear to protect his fellow soldiers. All those acuities are vital and will always
earn the soldier's respect from the community.

Honor
In the modern world, honor has wholly lost its power and reverence. However, in the
USA army, honor has been a bottom rock for the soldiers to perform their duties diligently. In
the battlefield, the real and purest honor is the soldiers honoring one of their fallen soldiers
amidst bitter cold November in a howling Afghanistan wind or courtesies of giving meaning and
respect to a truly tragic event. Even though the United States may honor its fallen soldiers, this
may nov be enough for the soldiers who were present on the battlefield. Another aspect of honor
is the due respect the soldiers respect the flag of the Nation. The victims of both world war and
the fallen soldiers. (Kusch, 2011), For instance, claims that are doing the right thing for a fallen
soldier do not indulge in vengeful acts and always obeying the orders.

Integrity
According to (Lausmann 2020), doing the right thing even when no one is looking is the
true definition of integrity. There have been several occasions in the United States army bases
where a breach of integrity has been experienced. The publication of such a breach can
overshadow a significant operation that the soldiers are working on. Integrity is one fundamental
aspect that soldiers need to observe at all costs during their operations. Integrity falls under
several occasions; for instance, some simple tasks as calibrating an M2 before going to a mission
is itself a very act of integrity (Kusch, 2011). Some other scenarios where integrity should be
observed is the army officers choosing the hard decisions over easy and wrong ones.

 

Personal Courage
Personal courage is another cornerstone value that gives the soldiers courage to combat
an enemy. During an operation, one can be tempted to flee for his/her life due to the enemy's
overwhelming power. However, it is due to personal courage that will enable the soldier to stand
his/her ground and combat the enemy in case of an imminent threat that will endanger him pr his
fellow friend on the battlefield. Courage is one critical element that a soldier should have. This
will enable the soldier to protect himself and his friends. This is also as important as to the
political leaders and the public discourse. According to (Lausmann 2020), he states that courage
is the only heart of the American soldiers towards a promise.
As the general public, we need to recognize the efforts and dedication that the army
soldiers dedicate to protect our Nation in times of terror. Everyone is afraid and always tremble
in the face of death, but these soldiers put their lives on the line for our own sake and the
country. The core values have been a holding block for our soldier's unity and courage to combat
the terrorist attacks in the United States, hence we as the general public need to honor and
respect the soldiers who had fallen for the sake of our safety.

since he was insulting, the younger one. His action is terrible and causes pain. You should report

However, such people cannot hurt you if you stay with your sister and brother all the time.

facts (Ojose, 2008). At this level, Sharon can understand abstract and hypothetical incidences
and mature in perspective-taking. She is more curious concerning the victim's feelings during the
bullying incidence. She can also reason hypothetically concerning the future that prompted her to
ask the preventive strategies for bullying. The parent can now engage in long conversations and
advanced terminologies since Sharon has a large working memory and can control her
understanding in a conversation. The parent should explain possible signs of a bully and remind
her that no one chooses to be bullied. Besides, association and generalization can help relate the
shock of bullying experiences to her daily challenging tasks. The parent could further book an
appointment with the school counselor to allow Sharon to explore in-depth explanations
concerning bullying. It is vital to assure her of safety since she can have safety concerns from
bullies.

However, confrontation is the first defense against bullying. The victim should assume or reject
the bully's threats (Pacer, 2016). Secondly, students should operate in open places where they
can seek help when bullied. Thirdly, they should also report any bullying incidence to teachers.
Fourth, students should have a strong social circle that might scare the bully. I promise to
safeguard you always from bullies, but I will suggest we visit the counselor to gain an in-depth
understanding of bullying.

Conclusion

Adults should learn proper communication techniques in explaining scary situations such
as school bullying to children as they grow and develop cognitive understandings. Child
development theories such as processing theories, Piaget's theory, and language development
theories are vital in formulating these explanations. I suggested three diverse reasons for bullying
for children aged 5, 9, and 13. The explanations became complex with the increase in age and
considered feelings and imaginary conditions. The language used also advanced as children
learned other words alongside large active memory. Parents should always be truthful despite the
age. However, the level of truth depends on the child's cognitive stage and capacity to

understand. It is also advisable to reassure children of their safety since the topic is bullying.
Therefore, they will learn that bullying is a scary situation that requires everyone's assistance.

Mark Rothko introduced a new technique of drawing in which he drew rectangles with
soft edges. Unlike the art done before him, which represented various features such as houses,

drawings represented nothing specific, but Rothko presented contrasting colors to mark different
parts of the drawing in all drawings. Thus these pieces of art can be interpreted in various ways
depending on the audience.
According to an American priest, his idea of God was a blurred and abstract thing, which
could have influenced Rothko’s art. In his drawings, Rothko maintained the landscape, and using
different colors, he represented the ground, and in between, he painted a thin line that
represented the horizon. In contrast, the upper rectangle represented the sky (WantedRobot). For
example, from this art, it would be wrong to claim that Rothko's arts are empty as they represent
something that represents something that requires the audience’s closer attention to understand.
Rothko tries to tell his audience that innocence's transcendence can be done through light and
color alone.
The beauty of the art is eye-catching, especially how he transforms from one edge to the
other. He also was able to make the edges of his drawings soft in a way that cannot go

unrecognized. Even though Rothko's abstract art is hard to understand, the meaning of the colors
used in them catches the audience's eye and sets the view's mood. Abstract expressionism was
meant to communicate things that did not exist in the physical form, including feelings.
Therefore, it could be hard to interpret that art, but they still have meaning and communicate to
the inner person.

issue about the investigation. The individual responsible for reducing the lifespan of iPhone

convicted of violating the law. Instead, Apple Inc decides to pay the fine to compensate for the
damages caused. Even though the board of members must investigate the issue internally and

Apple must have been on a tight spot when legal proceedings were filed against them;
however, people must also reconsider. It was evident that Apple argued that what they did was
not to bring back consumers to their doorstep to buy much-advanced gadgets. They had good
intentions to maximize the life span of the mobile phone and ensure that the gadget does not just
shut down, causing further damage to electrical components (Etzioni, 2018). People are always
fast to judge; however, they might not know why someone made the decisions. Concerning
Apple Inc, they must have exhausted all possible options to ensure that the older versions of
Apples’ products are efficient; hence they decided to slow down the battery to avoid future
damages to the gadgets. According to Apple's argument, the law should also be expanded since
they never intended to damage their consumers. Besides, such negligence could have harmed the
strong brand that Apple Inc is having in the technology world.

However, information about the iPhone battery and the issue of slowing down would
have been made public to their consumers. There is very sensitive information that organizations
must properly communicate to the general public. Hiding such information can be dangerous and
may cause extensive damage to an individual using the organization's products. Instead, Apple
decided to go for unethical behavior of hiding that piece of information from the general public.
The model of hiding or divulging information proves to us that Apple Inc did not involve In a
good business practice; hence according to us, the issue was not resolved according to good
business ethics. Besides, Apples Inc decide to pay off the fines to bury the hatchet.
Instead of Apple Inc finding the employees responsible for that negligence, they agreed
to remit back and pay for the damages done, which indicates that Apple Inc condones unethical
actions. Apple Inc is a successful company that may not wish to have a bad reputation, which
may harm or reduce their brands' value. However, they should have never condoned unethical
behavior within their premises (Clarke and Boersma 2017). Most organizations may get involved
in unethical behavior, which may later be costly to the organization. Apple Inc was fined a huge
amount of money due to condoning unethical actions of not communicating to the consumers of
the iPhone's batteries' issues. Hence, according to us, the controversies revolving around Apple
Inc were never resolved according to good business ethics.

Observing Earth day is crucial because it constantly reminds us that the earth is delicate,
and every person must be involved in protecting it. Earth as our planet is unsafe from human
activities such as chemical waste production in industries. Chemicals pollute the air and other
aspects of the environment, making it unsafe for humans to continue their daily lives normally.
When the air is polluted, humans can develop lung cancer and asthma, which are very dangerous
and expensive diseases (Nationwide Air Filter Company, 2018). Celebrating earth day
communicates that we should continue encouraging environmental awareness and keep perpetual
reminders that we should protect the earth every day (earthday.org, 2020). Public awareness and
scientific research of environmental concerns have led to the development of laws and policies to
protect the environment. Such a law is the Clean Air Act developed to reduce air pollution,
reduce the ozone layer's depletion, and promote public health.

The Clean Air Act

The federal government developed the Clean Air Act (CAA) as a federal law to control
air pollution, which was the major contributor to an environmental issue. Massive concerns from
individuals, the public, government institutions, profit organizations, and non-profit
organizations raised concerns about air pollution leading to the idea of such an act and law. The
CAA accorded the Environmental Protection Agency the ability to fight air pollution and devise
regulations for industries and facilities prone to the production of gases and chemicals that
polluted the environment (US EPA, 2018). The industries and facilities are required to modulate
the amount of pollutants they produce to safe levels and clean the air. Businesses were required
to carry out a risk management plan for dealing with hazardous substances that they were

responsible for. Also, states were mandated to enforce the CAA so that their air can be safe and
be at the same safe-level as other states. The world was gaining a reduction in air pollutants, and
the ozone layer started to recover.

The environmental issue that led to the development of the CAA was the destruction of
the ozone layer. The ozone layer is the part of the atmosphere that protects the earth from
harmful ultraviolet light from the sun. Destruction of the ozone layer by air pollutants such as
sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and lead causes the ultraviolet light from the
sun to penetrate the earth and therefore causing negative effects mostly on public health. The
negative effects include diseases such as eye cataracts, skin cancers (Nationwide Air Filter
Company, 2018) and also limit plant growth and therefore reducing agricultural productivity
(UCAR, 2020). When people are infected by diseases and agricultural produce is reduced, the
world experiences hanger, starvation, drought, diseases, economic breakdown, and eventually,
the quality of living becomes chaotic.

Causes of Air Pollution

Air pollution that leads to the destruction of the ozone layer and unsafe air for breathing
is caused by several factors, including the burning of fossil fuel (Mackenzie, 2016). In the
industrial revolution era, industries used to burn coal and wood as sources of energy that
produced a huge amount of carbon into the air. The carbon print in the atmosphere increased, and
eventually, it became a problem due to increased concertation of greenhouse gases and
deforestation. Other causes of air pollution are agricultural activities such as cutting down trees
to plant cash crops spraying a chemical in the agricultural lands. Also, exhaust from factories

produces harmful gases (Conserve Energy Future, 2017). Mining operations in mining areas also
contribute significantly to air pollution and indoor pollution from sprays and aerosols.

Effects of Air Pollution on the Environment and People

Conserve Energy Future (2017) states that there is around 7 million death globally due to
air pollution both outdoors and indoors. The major effects in public health are increased stroke
cases, heart diseases, lung cancer, acute respiratory diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, and
asthma. Regionally, there are more than 300,000 deaths in the US, about 500,000 in Europe and
Eastern Mediterranean region each, about one million in African, and 2 million in East Asia and
Pacific regions each. Environmental effects include acid rain, haze, animals' death due to
diseases and reproductive failure, ozone depletion, and global warming. For instance, the rivers,
pods, soils, and lakes in Massachusetts have been immensely damaged by acid rain
(Commonwealth of Massachusetts, n.d.).

How Economic, Personal Lifestyle Are Related To Air Pollution

Economic activities such as mining, industrial activities, agriculture, factories, and
transport system are activities that produce greenhouse gasses such as sulfur dioxide, carbon
monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and lead, which are major contributors to air pollution. Personal
lifestyle and behaviors that contribute to air pollution are smoking, use of wood as a source of
fire, using aerosols and sprays which have harmful chemicals, burning plastic waste
uncontrollably, cutting down trees, hazardous painting, and failure to create awareness about air
pollution and ways to control it (Chan et al., 2019).

Role of Individuals, Communities and the Government

Individual governments and communities have played an important role in addressing air
pollution. Individuals have adjusted their lifestyles in such a way they do not use materials and
chemical that are harmful to the environment. Also, individuals and communities have
emphasized the government through rallies and peaceful demonstrations against facilities that
produce hazardous waste without proper risk- management plans. Individuals and communities
create awareness about air pollution leading to the development of preventative knowledge by
the general public. Scientific researchers have also conducted a research program aimed at
reducing and controlling air pollution and have come with ways to solve this issue and have
recommended it to the government and relevant institutions. The government has played an
important role in creating the CAA, followed by all states amid efforts to curb air pollution
(Washam, 2011).

Impacts of the CAA, Benefits, and Consequences

Companies and individuals in violation of the CAA faced strict consequences such as 15
years jail term and $250,000 fines for individuals and $500,000 for companies (Holst, 2019). The
CAA has reduced the level of pollution and has also improved the health of American workers
and citizens. There are few deaths due to air pollution and few diseases related to air pollution.
Al factories are now responsibly managing their waste chemical so that it will not pollute the air
and environment. Air pollutants were reduced by 68%, and a total of 160 were avoided in the
US. Agricultural produce has also become stable through controlled farming practices and
reduced deforestation. Animals have also regained reproductive abilities due to the presence of
clean air.
